Storm King's Thunder
Excarnation by wild beasts is not an unprecedented means of dealing with the dead. As with burial, the main concern is that the soul will not properly leave the body until the corpse has been “stabilized” (i.e. stripped to bone). Until that happens, the soul can become confused, resulting in various awkward undead situations.
Rites of Kelemvor, the god of death, would help protect against an undead outcome. As religious types, Hirc and Moire might be qualified to perform an abbreviated version of these rites (pantheism means you’re special favorites of Torm and Ilmater, but acknowledge the benefits of propitiating the other gods too). Saying a prayer to Torm over a dead body would only really make sense if the deceased had, in life, been a staunch adherent of that god.
